Living with Purpose
Seeking God's Will and Using Your Gifts for His Glory

To believe in Christ is to begin a life not of passivity, but of holy pursuit. Faith is not the finish line - it is the starting gate. The gospel calls us not only to be saved, but to be sent - not only to believe, but to build, bless, and bear fruit in a broken world. True faith leads to action - not to earn God's favor, but to express our deep gratitude for His grace.
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." - James 1:22
When we take action in obedience to God's Word, we declare with our lives that Christ is Lord - not in theory, but in practice. Every believer is given time, breath, resources, and spiritual gifts to be used for His glory. The question is not if you are called, but how you will respond.
1. The Daily Pursuit of God's Will
Seeking God’s will is not a one-time decision - it is a daily surrender. It’s less about discovering some hidden mystery and more about walking in obedience, step by step.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." - Psalm 119:105
God's will is first revealed in His Word. When we fill our hearts with Scripture, we become aligned with His mind and ready for His mission. Start each day by:
Praying with open hands - “Lord, not my will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
Reading with expectation - asking the Spirit to guide your thoughts through the Word.
Listening with attention - through quietness, seeking His gentle promptings.
God’s will isn’t always about location - it’s often about transformation.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." - Romans 12:2
2. Using Your Gifts for His Glory
Every believer is uniquely designed. God is the Master Artist, and no brushstroke is wasted. Your talents, your burdens, your experiences, even your wounds - all of it can be used to bless others and glorify God.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." - 1 Peter 4:10
You may not feel especially gifted, but the Spirit has placed something of eternal value in you. Gifts are not always public - some are quiet, behind-the-scenes strengths. Whether it’s teaching, mercy, encouragement, hospitality, leadership, or giving, they are all sacred in His hands.
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord." - 1 Corinthians 12:4-5
Ask yourself:
What stirs your heart when others are hurting?
What comes naturally to you that blesses others?
Where have others affirmed God’s grace working through you?
Then, act. Don’t wait for perfection. God delights in the willing, not the flawless.
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." - Colossians 3:23
3. Living on Mission Every Day
God's plan for your life is not tucked away in some far-off corner. It’s in your neighborhood. Your workplace. Your school. Your home. The kingdom of God advances through ordinary people walking in obedience to an extraordinary God.
"Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
We live on mission when we:
Serve with love and excellence in our daily work
Speak truth and grace in conversations
Show mercy and patience in conflict
Share the gospel with boldness and compassion
You don’t need a title to be used by God. You need trust. You don’t need a pulpit - your life is the platform.
"We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
4. Faith That Acts
To follow Jesus is to move - not just to feel inspired, but to obey. Faith without action is not faith at all.
"So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." - James 2:17
But faith that acts changes lives - beginning with your own. It takes root in the soil of love and grows up into fruit that nourishes the world. Don’t bury what God has given you. Plant it. Water it. Share it.
And trust - He will bring the increase.
"Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." - Galatians 6:9
Final Word: Live Sent
You were saved for more than survival. You were redeemed for more than safety. You are called - every day, in every moment - to reflect the beauty of Christ to the world. Take action, not for applause, but for His glory.
Seek His will daily. Use your gifts boldly. And walk forward with open hands, knowing that the God who calls also equips.
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." - Proverbs 16:3
This is the life of the believer: not idle, but ignited. Not passive, but purposeful.
You are His. Now, live like it.
